The Port of Goderich, known since Victorian times as the “Prettiest Town in Canada”, is a complete community that offers something for everyone. Goderich’s downtown core, known universally as “The Square” is home to over 140 shops, restaurants, and other businesses that cater to every taste imaginable. In summer months, the downtown is home to Goderich’s well-known Farmer’s and Flea Markets, selling Ontario grown fruits and vegetables, honey, maple syrup, plants and flowers, some pork products and fish, homemade baked goods, homemade preserves and handmade locally produced crafts.
Goderich’s three unique beaches are located a short walk away from the downtown and offer a great setting to relax by the lake. Parking is FREE. Bring armchairs and join the crowds who come to watch the tug boats guide a mammoth vessel into the harbour. Sailboats and power boats play in the lake. Picnic shelters and plenty of playground equipment along a mile and a half of boardwalk invite families to enjoy a day in the sun. Rotary Cove Beach, a sandy guarded beach is the perfect place for families to cool off.
Perched on the bluffs overlooking Lake Huron, Goderich’s natural setting along Ontario’s West Coast provides an incredible diversity of recreation and leisure choices. With 23 separate trail systems located throughout Town, Goderich offers a wide array of hiking and cycling opportunities. If you are feeling more adventurous, Goderich is an ideal place to start your exploration of the Maitland Valley, with its numerous backpacking, fishing, and canoeing options.
Whatever your taste, Goderich is the place to experience it. Once you visit Goderich, your heart will never leave.
