Scenic Manitoulin – Visit and bring it back home! Jan’s interview with TVO's Steve Paikin gives insights into the Island, with some of the photos in the keepsake book, Scenic Manitoulin Through the Seasons. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this book with 66 full-page, full-colour photos, speaks volumes about this unique Island. The commentary tells about the rock and soil, the resilience and vulnerabilities of nature, the history of the Anishnaabeg, and a myriad of features of Island life.
With the Scenic Manitoulin calendars, you can enjoy the best of the Island all year long. The flash of sunlight as a swimmer flips her hair on a summer evening in Providence Bay, provides the beautiful cover for the Scenic Manitoulin 2017 Calendar. The photos are all taken in places where people can go, like trails, harbours, parks, beaches and roadsides.
Jan also makes handmade stoneware pottery, mostly dinnerware fired at a high temperature for chip-resistance. She brings her potter’s wheel to some markets where people can try their hand at throwing bowls, and youngsters can make pinch-pot animals.
McQuay Click & Clay products are available in many retail stores on Manitoulin, and at markets during the summer season, or contact Jan directly. This summer McQuay Click & Clay joins the Oriole Arts Studio and Gallery which is now located in Providence Bay.
Most McQuay Click & Clay products carry the Made on Manitoulin logo.
